About

Moé is an LSE100 fellow at the London School of Economics and Political Science, teaching on the interdisciplinary LSE100 course for undergraduate students (AI and fairness themes). Working across critical migration and refugee studies, politics, and media studies, their PhD project analysed the concept of 'humanity' through virtual reality films on displacement using decolonial and feminist theories. You can read their most recent article from their project here (open access).

Apart from their academic career, Moé has also worked as a freelance researcher and Japanese/English translator (both directions). Please see the 'Translation' page for details, and feel free to contact me at [email protected] if you're interested in working together (I am happy to take on pro-bono work, especially for initiatives related to migration and feminism).
Moé holds a BA in Development Studies and Politics from SOAS, University of London, and an MSc in Refugee and Forced Migration Studies form the University of Oxford (Oxford-Kobe scholar).

They are committed to building communities and spaces for change, as they believe everyone can make a difference (however small) where they are when working together with other people. To this end, they have been involved in various award-winning student initiatives including Black Lives Matter Seminar series and Decolonise UEA Society at the University of East Anglia. They have also been involved in grassroots feminist organising in Japan through the Tokyo-based feminist group Chabujo.
